I’ll admit I accidentally purchased the PS5 without a disc drive. Frankly, I wasn’t paying attention. I noticed my mistake before opening the box, but decided to keep it. The only (obvious) problem it caused was that I couldn’t play any of the numerous games I bought with my used PS4. I don’t miss the physical media much, but I’m not a die hard gamer. However, I understand the threat to boycott Sony games if the PS6 has no physical media option.
One time we were at the Grapevine Bar on Maple for Halloween. A man dressed as a military officer was passed out in a chair with a champagne bowl in his lap. I took the champagne bottle and started dancing and chugging it. At that moment, I realized how silly I must look dressed as a zombie doing that. I finished the bottle.
Yesterday morning I could not see the parking space stripes at the park and ride because of the ice. I just had to guess where the spaces were. On the way home I discovered I had guessed correctly.
Person 1: I wonder why we have finger nails. Person 2: I just assumed they came from claws. Person 1: Well, since I don’t believe we evolved from other life forms, I don’t accept that reason.
I know I shouldn’t laugh, but something about OSHA investigating a Tennessee bomb factory explosion that killed 16 people strikes me as funny. I think of OSHA when someone falls off an unstable chair and hurts their tummy, not when untold volumes of explosives are ignited simultaneously killing over a dozen workers.
I volunteered to play a Facebook game about a band and I was assigned, by Alex Pogosov, the band White Zombie. White Zombie is indeed one of my favorite bands and I suspect he knew this. I’m pretty sure I was first exposed to this groovy horror-metal chaos band, like most people, by Mike Judge via Beavis and Butthead circa 1993. A friend of mine later gave me a tape of La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Volume 1, but it only had like the first five songs. When I ultimately bought the CD it was like a bonus because I’d never heard the rest of the album. When the next album, Astro-Creep 2000 came out, I bought it right away and found it worthy of the name White Zombie. It would be a difficult task to identify a favorite track from this band. Specifically for this assignment, I just now skipped around a bunch on La Sexorcisto, and I’ve reached the conclusion that Cosmic Monsters Inc. is probably my favorite. It has everything I’m looking for in a White Zombie song. Sci-fi samples, absurd lyrics, heavy riffs, and an industrial edge. Strangely enough, for a White Zombie song, the lyrics are NOT complelety peppered with the exclamation “yeah!”.
I’ve only ever had one Laserdisc and I’ve never had a Laserdisc player. I don’t even remember where it came from. It’s my favorite Star Trek movie. I’ve probably seen it more than any other movie ever – just not from this particular copy.
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country on Laserdiec…
After having it for a little less than a year, I finally opened my Alien³ Ellen Ripley. I’m glad I did. I’m not looking to resell collectibles for a profit, so I almost always open the packages. It’s way more enjoyable that way.
